Similar to their first matchup, this game was a tale of two halves. However, unlike their first matchup, Iowa State didn't give the game away to Duke. Lucca Staiger hit the "dagger", despite a near-expiring shot clock with less than a minute to go.

Duke won the tempo battle, forcing Iowa State to play up-tempo with them, due to various traps and presses. However, bad shooting early allowed Iowa State to take an 11 point lead to halftime.

The deficit, combined with a much better defensive showing from the Cyclones, allowed them to win their first National Championship in Hendricks' first season.
