Cyclones Suffer First Loss

Iowa State had cruised off to a 6-0 start, the most notable win coming against Northern Iowa (76-54). (This is NCAA Basketball 10, so that is the Northern Iowa team that upset Kansas later that year.)

However, that following Saturday, the Cyclones were mowed down by (14) Cal, by a score of 86-69. The first half was competitive; Iowa State briefly held the lead before going down seven at the half. The home court advantage was nearly overwhelming. Cal's lead got as high as 25.

In-state rival Iowa is up next, but the school eyes the January 6th matchup with Duke at home.
