ALCS Game 3 vs. TOR

Both teams yielded more runs than they desired. After the Tigers came out with a 4-run 1st, they were sure that they were headed to a victory.

They bounced out the starter (again), Henderson Alvarez, and Darren Oliver had to do most of the pitching.

However, the Blue Jays tied things up after a 5-run 3rd inning. Manager Jim Leyland had enough of Josh Beckett (3 IP, 6 ER) and later opted for Felix Doubront, who was originally in line for a win.

The Tigers were never down in this game, but Collin Balester almost made it so that the Tigers were. Brian Fuentes, who won the game, got Kelly Johnson out with the tying run on 2nd base.

Later on, the Tigers offense piled on more runs to victory. Hunter Pence won the game with his 2-run shot in the 8th, to make it 13-11.

Though their bullpen is in shambles, the Tigers now lead 3-0 in the ALCS.
