The deals didn't stop at Michael Morse.

We found our next closer. It is John Axford! Axford, Manny Parra, and a prospect came our way in exchange for Ricky Romero. Romero was let go, because he was the odd man in our rotation after the CC Sabathia deal. Yes, CC Sabathia.

However, the Sabathia deal came at the highest price. We let go of Prince Fielder. Fielder, of course, was the staple of our offense, but we were inspired of our production without Miguel Cabrera. I see Cabrera's talents in our offense this year at least equal to Fielder.

Also, we now have a great "Big 3" in the rotation, complete with Verlander, Sabathia, and Beckett. Even call it the Big 4. Doug Fister leads the league in wins!

We collected all the "loose pieces left" in order to fill the new need. A DH versus lefties and a platoon 1st baseman. That will now be Edwin Encarnacion.

Toronto will recieve Jose Valverde, Jim Thome and a prospect. Both Valverde and Thome are at the end of contracts. Combined, they were set to make over $8 million. Thome is at the very end of his career. Valverde is being replaced by Axford. Remember, we have Jordan Walden, too. The loss of Valverde won't affect us, since we won't be tapping the bullpen as much.

To tell the truth, I am only worried about the loss of Fielder.

Though much cap room wasn't saved, we are technically younger. The expenses for this season continues to fall. Since there are very few players in the organization with expiring contracts, we should be safe for the next season. We will move some of the minor-league pitchers with expiring deals.
