Tigers Complete Comeback in Extras

Game 89 @ BAL

The thin air in Baltimore tonight wasn't good news for either side. Josh Beckett gave up a season-high 6 ER on 4 HR; however, a 4 inning, 4 hit bullpen shutout saved Beckett from the impending loss.

Down 6-2, the Tigers scored 2 runs each in the 8th, 9th, and 10th to win. The comeback started with both JD Martinez and Prince Fielder homering. The 6-4 lead prompted Jim Johnson to come out of the bullpen. After an unfortunate error, JJ Hardy tied the game with a 2-run homer.

Jim Johnson tried to salvage a win after the blown save, but things broke down in the 10th. He lost command, hitting Andre Ethier with the bases loaded. Afterwards, Mark Trumbo hit a sacrifice fly, and the Tigers didn't give the lead back.
