Game 24 vs. MIA

The Tigers came into this one looking for revenge against the Marlins. In an earlier Spring Training matchup, the Marlins came away with a 1-0 victory. Just like the first game, offense started early. To lead off the 2nd, Prince Fielder muscled a solo home run to left. Geovany Soto had a solo home run of his own in the 3rd.

However, the Marlins put things together in the 4th. Hanley Ramirez and Giancarlo Stanton had back to back hits. Logan Morrison followed up with a 3 run blast.

Edward Mujica relieved Mark Buehrle. After a quiet inning for the Tigers, Miguel Cabrera doubled in Ian Kinsler who singled earlier in the 6th. Prince Fielder followed with an RBI double off the wall. Victor Martinez touched them all to clear the bases.

Al Alburquerque relieved a somewhat ineffective Brandon Beachy and had a perfect 7th inning. On the other side, Steve Cishek came in to relieve Mujica, but he surrendered a solo shot to Jhonny Peralta.

Joaquin Benoit followed Alburquerque. He allowed a run when Giancarlo Stanton doubled in Jose Reyes. Jose Valverde shut the door on the Marlins.

Game 25 @ HOU

After a quiet 1st, Michael Morse led off the 2nd with a solo home run. More power followed when Miguel Cabrera homered in the 3rd.

Jordan Zimmerman made it through the lineup once without giving up a hit. Jose Altuve led off the 4th with a single. Carlos Lee singled home Altuve, giving the Astros their first run.

Reliever Lucas Harrell found himself in trouble during the 6th. Fielder doubled, then Morse doubled off the wall, and pinch hitter Andre Ethier drove in Fielder with a sacrifice fly.

Prince Fielder homered to lead off the 8th to extend the lead. However, the Astros put pressure on the Tigers bullpen in the bottom of the inning. Brad Lidge surrendered a hit to the only batter he faced. Scott Downs did his job by striking out the only batter he faced.

In his Tigers debut, Mark Melancon came on afterwards and loaded the bases. Jed Lowrie scored on a sacrifice fly from JD Martinez. Jose Altuve was caught stealing to end the inning.

With Melancon still on, Carlos Lee struck out in the bottom of the ninth. Randy Choate retired the lefty that he faced. Jose Valverde came on for the one-out save.
