2012 Detroit Tigers Spring Training (Game 23)

Game 23 @ NYY

After a temporarily skipped start, Doug Fister returned to the mound to face the Yankees. As usual, the Tigers got the offense going early. Miguel Cabrera homered after an Andre Ethier double. Hiroki Kuroda surrendered another home run to Michael Morse in the 2nd. That trend continued in the 3rd when Cabrera homered again.

Michael Morse homered in the 4th, but this time, he drove in three. Austin Jackson singled home Alex Avila who had a hit earlier in the inning. The big inning continued when Miguel Cabrera drove in Jhonny Peralta and Austin Jackson. That was it for Kuroda (3 IP, 11 ER). Dellin Betances relieved Kuroda and ended the threat.

Nick Swisher provided the first Yankee run of the game. He led off the 6th inning with a home run. Tigers pitching previously held a 23 inning scoreless streak!

David Robertson followed Betances out of the bullpen. He allowed Jhonny Peralta to score off of an Andre Ethier single. Prince Fielder drove in Austin Jackson with a single. Ethier scored next. Boone Logan replaced David Robertson after. Logan surrendered a pinch-hit homer to Geovany Soto.
