Top Ten College Football Players
Posted on July 16, 2009 at 05:21 PM.
10. Jahvid Best
9. Colt Mccoy

After hearing about the glorious Colt Mccoy, you must remember that this blog’s ratings of the best college players have to do with how good the will be this year not how good they have been throughout the collegiate years. Our next man is the first defensive player to receive a top ten accolade. He is known for his tenaciousness and desire. This man never redshirted, but was not a starter until his true sophomore season.
As a true sophmore he was a SEC First Team Selection. He was second in the whole SEC in tackles (131), and led the team in tackles in ten different games. He was second on the team and sixth in the SEC in tackles for a loss (16). To end his sophomore season, his last seven games all included atleast one tackle for a loss.
This man’s Junior season was a drastic improvement over his highlighted sophmore year. He was only one of five linebackers last year to return two interceptions for touchdowns, which also tied the school record. With a team that’s defense only got better he still lead the team in tackles even though he did not have as many as the year before (96). With lower stats he was still noticed being voted consensus first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC. He was a finialist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy which is awarded to the best defensive player in the nation. His presitgious head coach had so much confidence in him, he awarded him as captain for his junior year season. This All American two time First Team SEC, the 8th best player in college football is

Brandon Spikes surprised everyone when he announced that he would return for his senior season. His rare combination of awareness, strength, speed, and most surprisingly great hands make him the best linebacker in college football. This man has already been a two time National Champion and is hungry for a third. Spikes still has not been awarded SEC Defensive Player of the Year so there is still more to strive for. Most Scouts projected Spikes to be a top ten pick last year so this year I only expect the same.
