Now, for those with revisionist history, let's go back a bit. When Madden 06 was released, EA made the decision to completely rebuild the game from scratch, with a different engine, different mechanics, worse AI and less features. In short, it was a next gen game visually but a disaster in almost every other regard. This lasted for a good portion of the previous gen, particularly the early years, and IMO most of that resulted from building on top of the wobbly foundation that was Madden 06. ... Read More

Make no mistake, NBA 2K12 is the greatest basketball game of all time. Whatever you enjoyed about 2K11 has been improved upon tenfold. Except for one glaring area. Online Play.
More specifically the amount of time it takes to connect to a match & the amount of lag you experience once (if) you get a match. I'm 4-1 in my first 5 games, so it's not like it's impossible to manage, but still, this is the 4th consecutive year that 2K has launched with a less than desirable online experience. ... Read More

Double Dribble. Bulls vs. Blazers. NBA Live '95. This was my holy trinity of basketball gaming growing up, and since that time, I never quite had the same amount of fun or delight towards the virtual hardwood as I did in those days. But that all changed yesterday....
Leading up to 2K11, the hype was palpable, but almost nonexistent in my personal view. After playing every installment of the 2K series since its inception, 2K10 left me cold. The game lacked the polish we come to ... Read More

Yes, I'm a Kobe fan, and have been since his days in Philly, my old stomping grounds. Yes, this is an indictment on Lebron, who's mere existence has caused more debates in my life over the last 7 years than Politics and Religion combined. Hell yes. I'm about to start Lebron bashing, and if you don't like it, I suggest you leave now.
Well maybe not bashing, see I do, in fact, love watching Lebron play. But don't make excuses for Lebron James, there's none that would suffice anyway. ... Read More

I recently engaged in some commenting around here on a subject that I feel just begs of a conversation worth having.
Most of this comes from some of the "responses" to the Live patch just released (which, if you do play it, you should take a gander at, if you haven't already), but I think it applies to almost every sports game in general. IMO, regardless of the level of depth a developer puts into their game, the human mind will almost always find a way of manipulating that system. ... Read More

Every year, no matter how good (or bad) Madden is, the discussion inevitably divulges into the aspirations of all 2k fans that someday, they are allowed to once again compete with Madden, and force EA to "step their game up." Well, it seems to me, EA is doing just that with NBA Live 10, and lo and behold, those same fans seem to be crying foul.
This is coming from a player who purchased a Dreamcast exclusively for 2K's sports offerings, and has played them religiously ever since. ... Read More

As a long time lurker, and life-long Madden football fan since the Genesis days, I've felt compelled to finally log on and sound off on the most erroneous slight to Madden & Sports games in general I've encountered over the years.
And that is the claim that Madden "is the same old game every year." Now, I don't know about any of you, but over the last 20+ years I've watched football, not once has the game changed significantly in real life. EA's yearly iteration is not some type of ... Read More
