#1 '01 Miami vs #4 '92 Alabama

Hurricanes: 37
Tide: 31

This game wasn't as close as the score indicated. The Crimson Tide scored 21 unanswered 4th quarter points, which included a 37 yrd td pass on the last play of the game to pull within a 6 point loss. The Hurricanes dominated in every aspect of the game, especially defensively. Causing the Tide to turn the ball over 6 times, 5 ints and 1 fumble. The Hurricanes seem to be the team to beat and until proven otherwise, they will be a huge favorite to win it all.

Game 2: 8pm EST
#2 '05 USC vs #3 '05 Texas

Trojans: 20
Longhorns: 17
Overtime

The Longhorns really let this game slip away. They held a 17-3 lead with close to 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Trojans pulled within a touchdown and held the Longhorns to a 7 play drive that resulted in a punt with a little more than 2 minutes to play. USC drove the length of the field and with :13 seconds left connected on a 16 yrd pass to tie the game up at 17. The game went to overtime where the Trojans won the coin toss and elected to defend first. They held Texas to a field goal attempt, but it was wide right. Reggie Bush would end up pounding the ball up the middle to set up a chip shot game winning attempt. The kick was good and the Trojans fight to see another day.

Next week the #1 Hurricanes will face the #2 Trojans in a fight to see who will represent the Western region in the Title for who's the best team to have ever taken the field.
