Elimination Round Recap

4 teams entered elimination round weekend and 2 teams came out victories. It was a tale of two games, as one was a blowout victory, and the other was a down to the wire game. Lets get into the recap of the games.

In the Western Elimination round game we had:
'92 Alabama vs. '95 Nebraska

Tide: 34
Cornhuskers: 7

This game was an absolute blowout. Alabama controlled the offensive line and the clock. At the halftime there were many fans headed for the parking lot as Bama had a controlling 28-0 lead. Nebraska couldnt move the ball the entire game, minus one touchdown drive in garbage time. The Cornhuskers were held to less than 150 yards of total offense, while the Tide rolled to almost 400 yards of total offense. Nothing else to say about this game, other than for the shock of one of college footballs greatest teams getting manhandled.

In the Eastern Elimination round game we had:
'88 Notre Dame vs. '56 Oklahoma

Fighting Irish: 16
Sooners: 19

This was a totally different game. A total defensive battle until the 4th. It was 9-9 going into the 4th quarter. Both teams offenses started to click and the Irish were 12 yards away from scoring with :16 seconds left in the game, until Tony Rice threw a pick in the endzone. Ending the drive and causing the Irish to be sent back to South Bend in shame.

Next up will be the randomly generated bracket to see who will be in the East and West!
