Coach Daniels was soon asked questions from reporters about himself and his expectations of the team.
Reporter: How does it feel to be the head coach of Stetson University?
SD: It is a dream come true. I look forward to coaching this team to an A-Sun Championship in the near future.
R: You are only twenty five years old, do you feel that your lack of experience may hinder the team in the beginning?
SD: Although I am young, I believe that my youth will help the team out, and that my charisma will be a nice change to this university.
R: What are your recruiting expectations for this year?
SD: I believe that we have a great team. That said, we are not as good as i believe that we can be, I will be heavily recruiting talent from both near and far.
R: Any needs that the team has that you want to fill?
SD: Every team has some needs. this team is in need for more depth at the Big-man positions. I hope to recruit some taller players to give us an advantage down low.
R: Have you hired any assistant coaches yet?
SD: Yes, that was the first thing I did once getting settled in. I hired Eligah Gunn, who is a good scout, and a good offensive mind, as well as J.R. Louh, a good teacher who also has good offensive knowledge.
R: Because of your late hiring, you were unable to change the schedule for Stetson, is there anything you would have changed?
SD: I like the current schedule that the team has to play. I look forward to the season opener against UAB, as well as the games against Florida and FSU.
R: What are your goals for the team?
SD: Like any coach, the main goal is to win. I hope that in my first year we go over .500, as well as play in the Conference championship game.
R: Thank you for your time.
SD: No problem, Go Hatters.

After a disappointing loss to UAB in the season opener, Stetson traveled to Boca Raton, FL to play against the Florida Atlantic Owls. the game started off well in the Hatters Favor, as they seemed ready to play from the opening, leading at the half by a score of 36-17. In a press conference after the win, Coach Daniels said "I thought that our team played great. we started off strong, and even though we didn't play as well in the second half, we still played hard, and managed the W. If we can play the way we did in the first half for an entire game, I don't know of many teams that can beat us."
This was a big win for Stetson, as it gives the Hatters their first win of the season, and improves their current record to 1-1.

"It is disappointing to lose like this, especially on our home court. our team played very well last week, and it is upsetting to see us lose this one. luckily, we get to rematch these guys later in the year, don't be surprised if our guys seem extra pumped for that one." - Coach Daniels.
This loss puts Stetson's record at 3-2 for the season.
INTERVIEW WITH COACH DANIELS (NOV 26)
Reporter: Coach, almost one month of the season is finished, what can you tell us about your team?
Seth Daniels: This team is good, we won three games out of the five we've played, and so far we have played tough teams. I expect this team to improve even more an contend for an A-Sun championship.
R: This Sunday marks the start of recruits to sign their letters of intent. are there any recruits that you expect to sign with Stetson later this week?
SD: Honestly, no. the majority of this year's scholarship players are from outside of the USA, which makes it so they are unable to sign a letter of intent until after the season is over.
R: You guys play against both Florida and Florida State this week, how do you guys expect to do?
SD: I expect that both of the games will be competitive. both of those teams should play hard, and if they don't we will be ready to pounce on their mistakes.
R: You stated in your press conference after the loss to Bethune-Cookman that your players would be ready for the rematch, how are you getting them ready?
SD: I would rather focus on the next game, against Florida first. Rest assured, that the team will play hard.
R: Attendance for the Bethune-Cookman game was at 40% how do you hope to improve these numbers?
SD: we will put on good basketball, and win games. college kids always want to see their team win, this is what we will give them.
R: Thank you for your time. We will interview you again on January First.
SD: No problem.

INTERVIEW WITH COACH DANIELS (JAN 1)
Reporter: Hello Coach, how have you been?
Seth Daniels: I am well, the team won their last game, so I am doing very well.
R: That is good to hear. Last time we spoke, your team was 3-2 and about to play number nine Florida, now you are 5-7 and gearing up to start conference play. What have you learned over the non-conference part of the season?
SD: I think that we learned how hard we need to work to win. We can't have a game where we play good defense, and our offense doesn't show up or vice-versa. We need to play as an entire team.
R: How do you expect your team to do in conference play?
SD: I expect our team to be competitive in all our games. I hope to go far in the conference tournament.
R: You guys went through a tough time when you went close to five weeks without a win. How did you guys handle that type of adversity?
SD: It was tough, but I told the team the entire time that each game would help us out. We watched a lot of film on ourselves, and saw a lot of weaknesses that we are now trying to strengthen.
R: Thank you for your time Coach, we will speak again after the Atlantic Sun Tournament.

November 5 (8 days before UAB Game)
With the scholarship season heating up, Coach Daniels decided that he would first offer scholarships to the local kid. Tukker’s first three choices were Troy, Stetson, and South Carolina St. Coach Daniels also offered a scholarship to Toumou (although it was assumed that the Cameroonian wouldn’t sign his letter of intent until the regular season had ended) as well as the two Lithuanians, Mikulas, and Mikalauskas. With just over a week until the season opener against UAB, practice was heating up. While it was obvious that the team had some talent, Coach Daniels was not entirely happy with the effort being put forward by some of his players. “I hope that they start to pick up the pace” said Coach Daniels in an interview with A-Sun TV, “we have some talent, but these guys are going to need to step up their game if they want to compete with the big boys”

Although Stetson only had two players who were seniors, due to the low amount of total players, Coach Daniels was allowed to give out FOUR Scholarships out to future players. With the season about to begin, and Midnight Madness later that night, it was time to get down to recruiting. Because the tallest players on Stetson’s team were C Steve Forbes (6’8”) and Backup PF Liam Mcinerney (6’10”) Coach Daniels decided that the first recruiting priority was to find a suitable big man.

Seth Daniels on Stetson's Schedule:
"Due to the lateness of my signing, I was unable to make changes to the team's schedule, however, I do believe that we will have a successful year, and we will be competitive against all of our opponents. I would not be surprised if we manage to defeat a big name team like Florida or FSU, we have a talented team, and are poised to have an upset or two. I am really excited to play against UAB for our opener, I expect our team to play hard."
Seth Daniels’ first job as the head coach for Stetson is to find himself two assistant coaches. After carefully weighing the pros and cons of each of the eleven choices, he narrows down the decision to two: Stephan Jacobsen(C+,F,D,C+,C-,D,B+) and Kim Gatson (C+,C-,C+,D,C-,F,B+).
Daniels believes that each of his assistants has something to bring to the team that will help Stetson win a championship in the coming years.
"Jacobsen is a good teacher and should help the kids improve their game, while Gatson was hired for his scouting ability. I know that these are my two main guys, and they should help me turn this team into an A-Sun champion in the near future"
