After a couple of dynasties in 13, I have thought of a couple of ways to improve dynasty so that is at least as good as (better than) CH2K8
Coaching Carousal
This is just an idea, but I am annoyed at being an OC at UMass and TXST and after the 2nd year getting HC job offers from the ACC and small SEC teams when my 2 yr. combined record is under .500. No SEC team would EVER hire a 2nd year OC as a HC. Similar idea to CH2K8 in their legacy mode, if you were talented, you would get offers.
It should go something like this:
Small=SBC/WAC/MAC (-top 2 teams from each conference, + bottom 2 from Med conferences)
Med=CUSA/MWC (-top 2 teams from each conference, +bottom 2 from Big conferences)
BIG=BCS (-bottom 2 teams from each conference, +top 15 teams)
Small school coordinator -> Mid major coordinator or HC at current school (called up) IF FIRED -> game over (like in CH2k8) unless previously had career at other/ bigger schools, then maybe find a job at small school (or alumni school)
Mid major coordinator -> Big coordinator or HC at Small school or HC at current school (called up) IF FIRED -> Small school coordinator
Big coordinator -> HC at Small or HC at Med or HC at Big or HC at current school (called up) IF FIRED -> Small school coordinator or Previous coordinator position (if available)
Small HC -> Med HC or Big coordinator or Big HC (rare occasions, like multiple BCS bowl wins/ big name trophy winner) IF FIRED -> small coordinator or med coordinator (for bad team)
Med HC -> Big HC or longer contract (5-9 years) or big coordinator or small HC (long term) IF FIRED -. med coordinator or small coordinator
Big HC -> big HC or longer contract or NFL HC (cpu teams) IF FIRED -> Big coordinator or Small HC or Med HC (bad team) or med coordinator or big coordinator (if history with team or lots of experience)
Assistants and Ratings
HC should also be able to choose their coordinators (like how in CH2K8 you chose your assistants) and they can also be taken from your team for a better job (obviously you couldn't make them the HC at your school since you are there)
coaches should also have ratings (like in CH2K8) in (example) Offense (awareness bonus), Defense (awareness bonus), Recruiting (bonus in recruiting), Scouting (less time to find ratings or more accurate ratings), Teaching (progression, this paired with facilities would help players progress). As well as other rating to go with each coach: loyalty (chance they will stay at job if better one opens/ stability rating) Experience (time as a coach) these ratings would be coach prestige rating (tied in with getting a job along with previous experiences (1 yr. as coordinator=1 point, 1 yr. as small HC=1.5 points, 1 yr. as med HC=1.75 points 1 yr. as Big HC= 2 points. start dynasty at 0 points)
Improvements
Another thing to add would be a money/skill points spending for schools to upgrade pitches or ratings (ie win rivalry game= get $10,000 from boosters). Upgrades cost money. (Similar to in EA NCAA B-Ball 09)
Improvements would be something like:
Weight room: improve (+strength), renovate (+letter in pitch facilities), overhaul (+letter in pitch +5%weight gain)
Student center: improve (+awareness), renovate (+letter in pitch academics), overhaul (+2letter in pitch)
Locker room: improve (+awareness), renovate (+letter in pitch stadium atmosphere), overhaul (+letter in pitch +5% home chemistry (should add team chemistry rating)
Hall of champions/History: improve (+awareness), renovate (+letter in pitch tradition), overhaul (+letter in pitch +5%chemistry)
Players’ lounge: improve (+1%chemistry), renovate (+letter in pitch lifestyle), overhaul (+letter in pitch lifestyle, +letter in pitch facilities)
Improvements would cost something like
Improve=$100,000
Renovate=$5,000,000
Overhaul=$50,000,000
Small teams can buy improvements, but larger and more tradition teams might already have some (Oregon can’t improve facilities/locker room, ND can’t improve history)
Studio Updates
These in game updates are too common. If we are going to a studio update there should be a good reason why we are having a break in my game to see what else is going on in the country. They are no realistic at all. Have “breaking news” updates during game (where they are now) with upsets/ upset alerts, top 15 matchups, records, injuries, and other realistic reasons to be breaking into the game going on (having the #12 team lose makes sense, seeing that LTU is tied with UTSA in the second quarter does not). At the end of quarters/half then we can see conference games, as well as other games in the week. Once conference games start, have a conference standings popup during breaks with updates as other games finish (“UTSA moves up to second in the WAC with that win, depending on what happens here, they could be in the drivers’ seat for next weeks ‘ matchup against Idaho. One more win gives them a bowl berth. They control their own destiny now” and then show a complete list of the conference games that have happened, and then the standings again). Also if either team is in the top 25, then show the rankings (“here were the top 25 before today, and looking at the past day, it would seem that there will be some movement” then show the top 25/10 with who they played and the result)
Post week shows
Similar to CH2K8, have weekend shows that show the upsets, new top 25, and (later in the season) bowl projections, award races, and recruiting. This basically takes most of the pages from the ESPN page, and makes it into a video/ show. CH2K8 had something like this. It was basic, but it allows the user to see all that happened in the week without scrolling through pages of info. (You could go online to see everything, or watch sportscenter or college football live to see what happened in the week). There could also be bowl preview shows what the bowl are, and highlight the BCS bowls as well as any good matchups (or rematches).
