The Ducks stayed relatively quiet this morning, making a couple deals centered mainly around shoring up draft picks. They now have three first round picks in the upcoming draft, and a total of 9 picks.

Summary

Traded: C - Greg Fraser and a 2nd - 2013 ANA to Philadelphia for: LW - Zac Rinaldo and a 1st - 2013 PHI.
Analysis: This move will add an even bigger intimidation factor the the fourth line, already competent with Ryan Reaves and Cody McLeod, this will enable McLeod to slot onto the 3rd line, and leave the fisticuffs for the fourth line. Look to see Rinaldo-Mcclement/Boyle-Reaves

Traded: RW - Shane McColgan, D - Justin Falk, and a 4th - 2013 ANA, to Minnesota for: D - Jonathan Ericsson, and a 1st - 2013 MIN.
Analysis: This move saw the exit of one of the Ducks top prospects in McColgan, but does receive an upgrade on defense, as well as another first round draft pick. Ericsson will likely play on the left side with Gudbranson, or with McQuaid

Later in the day the Ducks claimed D - Andrew Alberts off waivers from Vancouver, he will report to Syracuse and will play out the remainder of the season there.
Analysis: If anything, this move gives the Ducks some emergency depth at defense if they make a deep push in the playoffs.
