The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired Ryan O'Reilly from Colorado in exchange for D - Tyler Hostetter and a Conditional 2nd Round Draft Pick (PHI).

O'Reilly is a versatile, hard working center iceman and will play on the second or third line. Brodziak and Bonino have each done a fantastic job filling in at center ice this year but by acquiring O'Reilly, it gives the Flyers a bona-fide center who can play one of the best two-way games in the NHL.

Through 49 games this season for the Avalanche, O'Reilly has 9 goals and 18 assists for 27 points. He also brings a physical element to the game, his 64 hits will give him the second most of all forwards on the team, behind only Scott Hartnell, who has 101.

Hostetter was signed in the offseason as an unrestricted free agent by the Flyers to a two-year deal. With the Flyers AHL affiliate this season he has 3 goals, 23 assists, and 34 PIMS through 50 games. He projects to be a game changing #2/3 NHL defenseman at some point. The 2nd round draft pick sweetened the pot enough for Colorado to take the deal. Philadelphia had three 2nd round picks for the upcoming draft, and still has the rights to Detroit, and Ottawa's 2nd round picks. With rights to eight picks in the upcoming draft, this trade may be the first of many. Official deadline day is just over a month away, on March 7, 2013.

O'Reilly will join the team when they return home for practice on Saturday, January 26 and will hopefully suit up for their final home game before the All-Star break on Sunday afternoon against the New York Rangers.
