The Charlotte Bobcats
Brace yourselves readers, I'm about to drop a bomb. The Charlotte Bobcats have done something right for the first time in their calamitous history, ditching the Bobcats name to return the Hornets to their ancestral home. You know your franchise sucks when the best thing thy've ever done is change the name, but at least Jalen Rose has predicted a comeback for Michael Jordan this year!
The big story for the Bobcats this summer was the acquisition of Al Jefferson with a three year/ 41 million dollar contract. I'm not really a math guy so I need to check my calculator...that's over 13 million a year! For a guy that can't defend and can only score from the left block. To Big Al's credit he is an elite scorer from that left block and needs to be doubled at all times when he gets there. Overall I don't really see a point to the Bobcats pursuit of Big Al, but what else are they going to do with 13 million this year? At least he makes this team a little more fun.
3 Things I Love about the Charlotte Bobcats
1. Kemba Walker's potential on another team(that might not be good...)
2. Cody Zeller being the better Zeller. Which means Phoenix will acquire Tyler Zeller before the trade deadline. Zeller.
3. Al Jefferson's bed:
3 Things I hate about the Charlotte Bobcats
1. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist being a professional basketball player with no jump shot. But he has heart!
2. Bismack Biyombo being listed as 21, but really being 33.
3. This being the organization that ruined Adam Morrison.
Most compelling Storyline of the 2013-2014 Season
Al Jefferson becoming a black hole down low after getting his money. Big Al got paid, now Big Al wants to get buckets. You think Al Jefferson is going to give up the rock to the likes of Josh McRoberts, Gerald Henderson and Cody Zeller? No way! Al's going to unleash his post move arsenal on the league, score 22 points a night, and lead Charlotte to another season with less than 30 wins. Burning money all along, and I don't mean on 20 foot bed frames, I mean literally burning it. I can't wait.
One Trade to Make the Bobcats Worse
I'm excited for this one. I've wanted Kemba Walker to become instant offense off the bench on a good team for awhile, so let's make it happen!
Charlotte Bobcats trade: Kemba Walker
Memphis Grizzlies trade: Ed Davis's expiring, Nick Calathes, and a future second round pick
The Grizzlies have no offense. They'll be relying heavily on Jerryd Bayless, Quincy Pondexter, and 95 year old Mike Miller to provide offense off the bench. Kemba is significantly better than all three of those players and Memphis has plenty of defense to make up for Kemba's liabilities on that end of the floor.
Make this trade happen. The Bobcats need to be bad anyway, plus they have Ramon Sessions to fill in for Kemba at the point. Nick Calathes, the greek shooting guard, might develop into a real scoring threat as well.
Question to Charlotte Bobcats General Manager Rich Cho
Mr.Cho, thanks for having me, is Mr.Jordan around? You think he'd like me? I named my dog Twenty-Three, you think MJ would dig that? I'm wearing a Hanes undershirt, look no bacon-neck!
Charlotte's Position in the Jersey Power Rankings
19.
The upgrade the Bobcats made this year improves their look tenfold. The Bob's went from a bottom-five jersey to a mediocre jersey. The only real improvement in franchise history. Here's hoping they don't screw up the new Hornets look. No pin-stripes! Please!
Closing Thought as told by Mark Twain or Yogi Berra
"A man who carries a [Bob]cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way." -Mark Twain
