Team 27.
The Orlando Magic
This roster doesn't seem all that bad, but it can't go anywhere. I like the Victor Oladipo pick, Tobias Harris showed flashes last year, and Nikola Vucevic really made Philly regret including him in the Dwight Howard/Andrew Bynum deal. But that is a really young core three, they're going to have their fair share of struggles. The veterans on this roster are lukewarm, Jameer Nelson isn't improving, Arron Afflalo is only a great defender, Big Baby Davis can't stay healthy and isn't particularly good when he can play. This team's ceiling just isn't that high, and their basement is really low.
3 Things I Love about the Orlando Magic
1. Victor Oladipo's Dwyane Wade potential.
2. Tobias Harris drawing the ire of Dwight Howard by wearing Dwight's old number.
3. Kendrick Lamar growing up and being jealous of Arron Afflalo. Wonder if he still feels that way?
3 Things I hate about the Orlando Magic
1. Jameer Nelson as a starting NBA point guard.
2. Glen Big Baby Davis' vertical leap.
3. Head coach Jacque Vaughn having a french sounding name.
Most compelling Storyline of the 2013-2014 Season
Uhhhhhhhhh.
Just kidding. It's all about Victor Oladipo. The Orlando front office has voiced plans to play Oladipo at point guard a lot this year. No! Why!? I could not disagree more, I understand waning to tank, but you can't potentially harm your most promising young player by playing him out of position. Orlando needs Oladipo to become the next Dwyane Wade, you can't hamstring him early by tossing him into the NBA playing a position he's hardly ever played.
You're going to suck anyway Orlando, don't waste the rookie year of the most exciting player in your organization.
One Trade to Make the Magic Worse
One reason Orlando has claimed to want to play Oladipo at the point is the presence of the very solid Arron Afflalo in the shooting guard spot. So let us get rid of him. You want to lose games to get a shot at the top spot in the 2014 draft, what do you need a defensive stopper like Afflalo for? An offense first contender will definitely be interested in adding some defense to their bench with Afflalo.
Orlando Magic trade: Arron Afflalo
Washington Wizards trade: Jan Vesely, Trevor Booker's expiring, Xavier Silas, and a future second round pick.
The Wizards are excited about Bradley Beal at shooting guard, that's obvious, but he can be a liability on defense. The Wizards could really benefit from a guy like Afflalo leading the bench brigade and playing strong defense during crunch time as they try to make the playoffs in the East.
Orlando gets another potential laden young piece, but a guy who has flamed out for Washington, in Jan Vesely. I think he benefits from a change of scenery and contributes to a young core in Orlando.
Question to Orlando Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan
Mr.Hennigan, what did you Henn the first time?
I'm sorry that was inappropriate. what I really want to ask is how good do you think your young "big(little)" three of Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris, and Nikola Vucevic can be?
Orlando’s Position in the Jersey Power Rankings
26.
Sorry Magic fans, I'm not a fan of pinstripes. They don't look good and you're logo is the cheesiest logo in the league.
This is a franchise eligible for a new identity, everything about the Magic name is stale. Magic isn't that cool unless you're thirteen, may I suggest you change the name to that of the Orlando minor league hockey team, the Orlando Solar Bears. That's a team nickname!
Closing Thought as told by Mark Twain or Yogi Berra
