Team 29.

The Utah Jazz

When your team trades for Andris Biedrins and the corpse of Richard Jefferson, you know you're in trouble. "I can't wait for the Trey Burke era!" With the exception of Jalen Rose, nobody is saying that. This is another team that has given up on the 2013-2014 season in exchange for more ping pong balls in the draft of the century. The one silver lining for them is the Derrick Favors/Enes Kanter front-court. If those two develop into a formidable duo up top, this team could have a bright future ahead of them.

[b]3 Things I Love about the Utah Jazz/B]

1. The logos. Both the one above and this one: are fantastic.
2. Enes Kanter's hat selection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v2wu7WxBUs
3. Any alley oop thrown within 10 feet of Derrick Favors.

3 Things I hate about the Utah Jazz

1. The fact that people in Utah have no idea what Jazz is.
2. My feeling that the name should be changed to the Utah JaZzzzzzzzzzzz.
3. Enes Kanter's other hat selection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5XFcuozIPY

Most compelling Storyline of the 2013-2014 Season

The maturation of the Kanter/Favors front court and Trey Burke's potential.

Trey Burke was a dynamite scorer at Michigan, but he's undersized. Is he athletic enough to overcome that and score with guys like Dwight Howard, Marc Gasol, and Joakim Noah defending the rim? I'm skeptical. He needs to develop a good passing game to try and open up some driving lanes, or he needs to become Allen Iverson 2.0.

Kanter/Favors is exciting. I've always liked Kanter's ability with his back to the basket and Favor's athleticism is in the top tier of the league. If these guys develop some chemistry they could go places.

One Trade to Make the Jazz Worse

There isn't much to work with here. Unlike Philadelphia the Jazz don't have any potentially valuable assets to throw away. Their roster is already young, but do they want to commit to building around the Favors/Kanter/Burke/Hayward core? If not some trades could be out there, especially for Hayward.

So let's operate on the basis that Hayward isn't the direction the Jazz want to go in, he's on an expiring contract so their going to want to get some assets for him rather than let him walk. I think a team on the fringes of the playoffs could be interested in a guy like Hayward.

Utah Jazz trade: Gordon Hayward

Minnesota Timberwolves trade: Dante Cunningham's expiring, Chris Johnson's expiring, and a future first rounder.

I love this trade for both parties. The Jazz get significantly worse, their goal from the beginning remember, add two more expiring deals and nab a future first rounder(could be 2014, more likely 2015) to aid in their rebuilding efforts. Plus they don't have to worry about Gordon Hayward hitting restricted free agency next summer.

The Timberwolves, by adding Hayward, acquire an all around talent at their weakest position. With Hayward inserted in their starting lineup Corey Brewer can move to the bench and focus on being the defensive stopper/energy guy he needs to be and Chase Budinger, when he comes back from injury, can focus on being an off the bench spot up shooter. Hayward then helps this Timberwolves team sneak into the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed.

Question to Utah Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey

Mr.Lindsey, it's fairly obvious that your coach, Tyrone Corbin, is terrible, so I was wondering if, when you fire him, are you going to consider Karl Malone and John Stockton as his co-replacements? The fans would love you for it and John Stockton will definitely love Trey Burke's score first mentality. It's a win-win

Utah's Position in the Jersey Power Rankings

8.

Okay so the green, purple and yellow color scheme is kind of weird, but look at those logos! The music note "j" is probably the classiest looking thing in the league and no team can beat having two z's in the name.
