Why I like Battlefield 3 Multiplayer better than MW3
Posted on November 9, 2011 at 09:34 AM.
I've been a Modern Warfare guy for the last 4 years, up until I was hacked in MW2 in Feb 2011. Although I skipped Black Ops, I was eagerly awaiting MW3 since I new it was being developed by Infinity Ward. I watched some of the pre-release trailers and game footage for MW3 and was instantly reminded of the familiar gameplay, graphics, and sounds of the MW series. Out of curiosity and of course hype, I also checked out Battlefield 3 footage. It was VERY impressive and for some reason, I was ready for a change. So I pre-ordered it and began playing 2 weeks ago.

I've been having a blast with BF3! The sounds are the best I've heard in a videogame, the multiplayer maps are expansive, and the variation that the vehicles provide is very enjoyable. Depending on the group I'm playing with, there is strategy involved and every time I play there is a different situation that keeps it fresh and fun.

Last night, I rented MW3 just to compare my experience with the two games. I played online last night for 4 hours. Conclusion: MW3 is simply a twitch fest totally dependent on who shoots first. Every time I come around a corner or encounter an opponent, it's a matter of who's got faster reflexes. It's complete chaos on most maps because of their size. I shouldn't be surprised - MW1 and 2 were the same. And that is what I'm tired of. Also, the constant sound of voice commands and reminders in Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Team Defender is extremely annoying. A lot of success in multiplayer also depends on luck. Many times when I'm facing one way, then turn another direction, an enemy just happens to come around the corner at that very same moment and gets the kill. Again, I attribute that to the size of the maps.

So I'm glad I only rented MW3 and the rest of the world can have its immature, run-n-gun,
reflex-based shooter. I'm not interested anymore. I can't wait to enjoy my late night gaming sessions with a strategy-based, mature, varied game like BF3.

No soldier in the history of battle have the reflexes of a cod soldier, the bf soldier has weight and momentum which makes the experience more realistic and rewarding

I prefer MW games over Battlefield personally. I am an older guy and I get tired of immature 10 year olds like "MW3rules" ruining the game but, with the right people it is a ton of fun. I like the smaller maps and the quicker games. I also love the ranking and upgrade system of MW3. Some of it is probably my familarity with the game. Both games are pretty awesome though.

Had another FUN session last night with BF3! It just doesn't get old because of the different ways to play and things to do.

Just wish BF3 had a vehicle practice mode. The helis are hella difficult to maneuver. I see people who fly like champs. Me, I need practice.

Eski33: I hear ya. I was the same way until I played the co-op heli mission and got a ton of practice in. Only problem now is that someone usually shoots me down pretty quick.
