Barbaro and Seabiscuit
Posted on August 27, 2010 at 01:08 PM.
I am watching the HBO presentation of "Barbaro" - a one hour special on the events surrounding his Derby win, his Preakness breakdown, and the entire emotional journey that America followed for the next eight months.

It is a tremendous presentation of a moment in sports that is truly hard to describe, if you weren't "there" at the time.

I love horse racing, and am often amazed at the grip that a racehorse can have on the sporting public.

If you like to read, and even if you've seen the movie, pick up a copy of Laura Hillebrand's "Seasbiscuit" - it is a wonderful book, one that captivates its audience, regardless of your interest in horse racing or sport.

Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

I'm a big horse racing fan myself. I was drawn in last year by Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta. I've seen that HBO presentation and it's extremly well done.

And Laura Hillebrand's Seabiscuit book is Fantastic!!! The movie is good, but the book (as usual) is much deeper and more descriptive.

Also, if you haven't seen it, ESPN produced a great movie on Ruffian, who before Zenyatta was the best filly around.
