Hughes vs Haren:
This was a pitcher's duel for the most part. Hughes struck out 8 in 6 innings, but also had 4 walks. 2 of the walks came in one inning. After a lead-off walk, a single, and another walk, Hughes was facing a tough situation. With bases loaded and nobody out, Hughes struck out the next two guys. One left to go. After falling behind in the count, Hughes battled back to make the bring it to 3-2, but then surrendered a grand slam to Adam LaRoche. The D-Backs took the lead and the Yanks couldn't recover. Posada's HR early in the game was the only extra base hit that the Yanks could muster-up against Haren. Their other 9 nine hits were negated by bad base-running mistakes. Haren also K'd 7 throughout the game.

CC vs Webb:
In the Battle of Aces, CC Sabathia and Branden Webb didn't disappoint. The D-Backs did a great job of battling at the plate and working the counts, forcing CC out of the game after 5 innings. His pitch count was only 109, but 3 innings of 25+ pitches wore him down quickly. Teixeira and Gardner both went deep for the Yanks, but their pitching staff walked batters in the worst situations, leading to all of the D-Backs' runs. In the top of the 9th, Granderson singled and scored on A-Rod's double to right-center field. Cano then drove the ball into the LF corner for a double scoring A-Rod. Mariano the Great, sealed the deal in the 9th with a 1-2-3, 2K performance.

Burnett vs Jackson:
The Rubber Game featured a tough luck loss for the Yankees' squad. Burnett struck out 7 in 7 innings while giving up 10 hits. Arizona was able to scatter their hits in bunches, leading to their 3 runs and that was all they would need. Edwin Jackson was perfect through 5 innings and struck out 5 in 8 and a third. Justin Upton was the thorn in New York's side, going 4-4 with two doubles and a triple.
