Seahawks close out presason with loss to Raiders
Oakland - The Seattle Seahawks put a bow on their preseason on Thursday night with a 17-14 defeat to the Oakland Raiders. That doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things as the last preseason game is always used to get some rookies as long a look on film as the coaches can get, and one last chance for some of the position battles to be won. Undrafted rookie linebacker Brock Coyle definitely cemented his spot on the final 53 man roster as he racked up an impressive team high 11 solo tackles. He will fill the void left by the season ending injury to Heath Farwell, but perhaps the biggest noise made on this night was by long shot QB B.J. Daniels. Daniels has been on the outside looking in all of camp while Terrelle Pryor and Tarvaris Jackson have been battling for the back up job all preseason, it has come at the expense of reps for the 2nd year QB from South Florida, but he got his chance Thursday and took advantage. Daniels came in and immediately drove the Hawks down for their first touchdown of the game, then calmly converted the 2 point conversion to make it a one score game. Then after a punt pinned Seattle down on their own 1 yard line. B.J. led a drive all the way to the Raider two yard line. Being as it was preseason the Hawks elected to go for the win rather than kick a game tying FG, but none the less the two minute drill was executed perfectly, and Daniels although a long shot gave the coaches definite reason to think twice about the signal caller. All in all like every other year, tough choices will be made in the next 48 hours, and dreams will be shattered as the Seahawks must cut their roster down to 53 men by Saturday.
