Romero's pinch-hit blast powers Mariners to win

Atlanta - The Mariners had another pitching battle on their hands, once again locked up at 1-1 late after the Braves tied it in the 7th inning on a Sac Fly, but rookie Stefen Romero followed up his two hit performance Sunday with some heroics to lead off the 8th. He battled until he got a hanging pitch from Luis Avilan that he promptly belted into the left center field seats at Turner Field, and the Mariners won their 2nd straight to kick off this southeastern swing. Chris Young was excellent for the Mariners going seven strong giving up just the one run on the Sac Fly. Fernando Rodney continued his dominance coming in for a 1-2-3 9th inning with two strikeouts in the process. The Mariners look for the quick two game sweep tomorrow when they send Taijuan Walker (4-5, 4.25 ERA) to the mound to face Julio Teheran (5-4, 3.15 ERA).
