Mariners blunders doom them, as Tigers continue streak

Seattle - The Mariners did everything they could to continue the hot streak for the Tigers in this one, as three fielding errors, and blown chances with runners in scoring position doomed them in. Seattle had runners on third with one out twice and were unable to capitalize, once getting bailed out by Robinson Cano's two run homer, which ended up being the Mariners only offense of the game. They also got a lead off double by James Jones in the 5th, and were unable to get him over for another opportunity blown. Meanwhile on the defensive side, errors continued to give Detroit chances they shouldn't have had, until finally Dustin Ackley misplayed a fly ball that allowed the eventual winning run to score. The Mariners will try to pick up the pieces tomorrow against Drew Smyly (2-6, 3.49), while sending the red hot Felix Hernandez (5-5, 2.21 ERA) to the mound to face him.
