Zunino's banner day not enough, as M's errors doom them again

Oakland - Mike Zunino bashed the A's for two home-runs, including a grand slam, but the Mariners could still not get out of their own way as they dropped a second straight to their division rivals. Normally a seven RBI performance from one man is enough to get you by, but the one man show Mike Zunino put on in Oakland still couldn't overcome three costly errors by the Mariners. Two by Brad Miller, who is in a slump offensively now as well, and one badly played ball by Michael Saunders in that killed any momentum the Mariners had after Zunino's grand slam had brought them back to life. Saunders gaffe allowed two runs to cross and effectively ended the M's chances, even though Zunino wasn't giving up, clubbing a three run homer in the ninth to go with his other dinger. If nothing else it forced the A's to reach for their closer to finally put away the M's. Who now drop to three and a half back in the division, and really need a win tomorrow to get their confidence back in a race that is still to be had. They'll try to do so by sending Taijuan Walker (2-3, 4.65 ERA) to the mound to face the unblemished Dan Straily (4-0, 2.13 ERA).
