Mariners' woes continue with 5-2 loss

Bronx - The Mariners week long tail spin continued on Tuesday, as Jacoby Ellsbury hit two home runs, and the Yankees handed the Mariners their sixth loss in their last seven games, knocking them back down to .500 with a 13-13 record. Ellsbury set the tone early homering in the first AB of the game. Brett Gardner followed that with a bomb of his own, and it was 2-0 before you could blink. Felix was solid after that though, and the Mariners were able to tie it up in the sixth with RBI singles by Corey Hart, and Justin Smoak, but in the bottom half Ellsbury hit his second bomb of the day, this time a three run home run, and despite threatening, the Mariners were not able to score again. The two teams continue their series today with a Japanese pitching ace duel as the Mariners send Hisashi Iwakuma (2-2, 3.19 ERA) to the hill to face Hiroki Kuroda (2-2, 5.23 ERA).
