Seattle - While the Mariner bats continue to try and find their way out of a slump, James Paxton provided the shut down performance the pitching staff was lacking in the last series, giving up just two runs over 7 1/3 as the Mariners beat the Rangers for the fourth time in five tries so far this year. The big blows came courtesy of a Justin Smoak two run double in the fourth, that looked like it may clear the wall off the bat, that put the M's up 2-1. After a second Prince Fielder Sac Fly tied the game at two in the top of the sixth, Kyle Seager came up in the bottom half and made sure there were no doubts where the ball would end up as he knocked it over the wall for his third home run of the season. That proved to be enough as Danny Farquhar, and Fernando Rodney worked out of jams in the eighth and ninth to wrap up the victory. The Mariners will try to continue their early season dominance over the Rangers tomorrow as Texas sends Martin Perez (2-2, 5.63 ERA) to the mound to take on Taijuan Walker (2-1, 2.86 ERA).
