A New Era in Houston
Posted on December 18, 2010 at 06:38 PM.
Gone are the days of Hakeem Olajuwon, and now the days of Yao Ming. The 7'5 Center out of China, announced his retirement earlier today in a heartfelt press conference.

"I apologize to the city of Houston and my country of China for not having done more in my career," said Yao. "It hurts me a lot too, not being able to play."

The silver lining for the Rockets? They are used to playing without their stars. They have learned how to play winning basketball without players like Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady and have still put out above .500 seasons.

Jordan Hill, who has shown signs of promise should see an increase in playing time in Yao's absence, but long time Rocket Chuck Hayes and the veteran acquisition Brad Miller aren't slouches either.

The Rockets are a team of heart, and when co-captains Brooks and Battier were asked about this upcoming season, they had one thing to say.

"We're ready."
