Sand Diego -- Colorado State wasn't scared travelling out west to SJSU as they destroyd the Spartans 51-26. The loss ends any bowl thoughts for the Spartans this year.
Sr QB Klay Kubiak had another so-so game for the Rams as he was 10 of 23 for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. "I've been lucky that when my play hasn't been the strongest that our defense steps up and actually gets some points on the board." He said after the game.
Carlos Washington rushed for 94 yards before sitting the 4th to rest his sore shoulder. Chris Nwoke added 64 yards and a touchdown on the ground too.
Byron Steele played for the first time in 3 weeks and came away with 78 yards and a touchdown. "It felt great to get out there and test myself before the pressure of playing Utah next week." Lou Greenwood also added a touchdown catch to his season total.
The Rams defense was lead by Davis Burl who collected two more sacks today, and Jr CB Shaquille Bell who returned an interception for a TD. Also collected defensive touchdowns off of fumbles were Freshman Matt Williams and Jr FS Ezra Thompson.
"We've been working all season long in practise on how to strip the ball, I think over the past couple of weeks, it's shown that we can poke the ball out from any angle."CSU coach Drew Gill commented,"I knew coming into the season that with the young secondary that we wouldn't see a lot of interceptions so I had the defense work on stripping that ball away."
San Jose State was lead by star HB David Freeman as he rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown."I wish I could have gotten the ball more as I was seeing all the cracks and spaces in the O-line to run through. I felt invincable today, but the rest of the guys couldn't get it going so we couldn't come away with the win." Freeman said.
Next week CSU will welcome Utah into town as we will see the first matchup of two top 25 teams in te MWC this year.
