Letting Your Best Friend Go
Posted on January 21, 2009 at 05:21 PM.
On saturday this past week I had to do the unthinkable in my eyes,My Dog who was 13 years old suffering from numerous things, needed to be put to sleep, this was the hardest thing that in my 42 year life I have ever done.Death itself is bad enough but to be the decider of this to something you grew accustom to seeing the past 13 years as you would walk in the kitchen each morning is gone....was not as "shaken" up over the passing of my Dad ,as I am my dog..dont take it the wrong way ...see the hope I have that one day I will see my Dad again in Heaven....But my Dog? Wish I knew for sure about my Dog........

I can feel your pain. I've lost 2 of them myself.

Yup - have lost 3 dogs in my lifetime -- one naturally (my first dog) and the other two put to sleep. My last dog, and English Springer, lived to 14 years - and while I miss seeing him around - watching him struggle at the end to walk up stairs or even to stand up was painful to watch. I tear up every now and then -- and watching "Marley and Me" the other week brought back all the good and bad memories -- which helps.

Dogs become part of your family.. losing one is like a part of your family missing. Sorry to hear of your loss ghm...
