Yup - have lost 3 dogs in my lifetime -- one naturally (my first dog) and the other two put to sleep. My last dog, and English Springer, lived to 14 years - and while I miss seeing him around - watching him struggle at the end to walk up stairs or even to stand up was painful to watch. I tear up every now and then -- and watching "Marley and Me" the other week brought back all the good and bad memories -- which helps.
Dogs become part of your family.. losing one is like a part of your family missing. Sorry to hear of your loss ghm...
