Next Step for Madden

I didn't get the opportunity to play the beta for M23 but all the vids, clips and comments surround the gameplay shows lots of improvements from years past.

I guess once we as players/ consumers are finally satisfied with 98 percent of the gamplay experience what should EA tackle next to make the game even better?

My 2 cents is presentation. Not to beat a dead horse but it's how the game is delivered to the player. The immersion. Seeing things on game day replicated in a game format.

This goes from a commentary team in the booth, sidelines, and studio. Talking about stats and match ups.

Variable team intros that highlight players performance from the previous week. A half time show that talks about the teams adjustments that need to be made or high light players that have been dominate.

With the gamplay the way it is, this next step for Madden will be the turnaround it's been needing to regain confidence in its fan base.

Curious to know what the community is thinking about this topic.

Yeah I agree. I think presentation is really big. That was my favorite thing about the 2K games. They had the look and feel of the NFL. There's a lot of work Madden needs to do in this area. I think franchise is gonna be roughly what it is now for the future, but presentation updates will help their moneymaker mut so it's a win for everyone.

franchise...

presentation is nice and all but at the end of the day it's not what's going to keep you playing the game is it?

This discussion has been going on for almost 20 years, hasn't it? I would think the franchise would have figured some things out by now but I guess that's how the game's played.

I'm not going to harp on Franchise since I've finally come to the conclusion that it's just not high up on EA's list of priorities.

So, I too will say Presentation. They have to get all the clutter off the screen. It would help if they made a deal with NFL Network and incorporate that into it's presentation. If they are going to continue to use cutscenes, then they need to make them make sense at the right times. At this point, I don't think it's a realistic expectation that EA would add halftime and postgame shows; and with that being the case, they should just take what they have, clean it up...add NFL Network to it's presentation, and make the cutscenes make sense. I think that's reasonable lol.

There are a fair amount of people on OS for whom presentation seems to be the most important part of the game, the way it is now being a game killer for many of them.

Maybe they will be able to be somewhat more satiated when College Football comes out, but IMO Madden is never going to even try to approach what they want on that front.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Well couldn't you say the same thing about presentation?

And presentation would take so much less work than franchise that the only reason it hasn't changed is because they don't want it to.

They've made more changes to Presentation over the years than they have Franchise Mode. So, while it could be said that Presentation isn't too high on EA's priority list, I think it could also be said that it sits higher than Franchise Mode.

I doubt we ever get anything that's game changing in either area. But, as my post above said...if they can just clean up the doggone screen...have cutscenes that play out sensibly to what's actually going on on the field...and then incorporate the NFL Network. That would make a whole lot of sense with regards to Face of the Franchise much in the same way the MLB Network is used in Road To The Show.

But, I just don't ever see us getting halftime/postgame show's with highlights...multiple broadcast teams, multiple network presentations etc. Those days appear to really be gone for good. It has taken me a long time to accept that.
