Interesting development. Sounds like EA made a smart move. Cost/benefit of the FIFA license wasn't worth it.

So many questions...

How many times has EA been sued over the FIFA card thing?
Has this created a bad relationship between the two?
Is this going to cause a problem with getting real players into the game?
If so this will destroy revenue from the card thing.

Not often that we can say that EA is the better corporation of the two but that's definitely the case here.

If only this new found money could go to MLS being fully authentic stadiums and all. I'm at best a casual fan. Don't really care about Europe. I follow the Crew because as a kid they were a day 1 team showing up. The rest just means so little I don't buy until late. Pick up free or discount under $20

Also they lead with Ultimate team. Again, I'm extremely casual. There is so much and so many players I've rarely ever started into the mode. It feels weird it won't be FIFA but I kinda think EA gives no cares as long as UT is thriving.

Not as long as they keep the FIFPRO license.

i agree with scottyo60...i'm a casual fan at best too. FIFA got greedy and wanted a piece of the UT pie and EA wasn't having it. however, this could work for both sides. FIFA can now go to multiple companies (2K, etc.) and see which company rises to the top with the best game. EA can now be more flexible with modes, rosters, custom teams, (roster share?), etc. and not be under FIFA's control and maybe we'll see a better game as a result.

They could build an authentic stadium IRL with the money they've saved.

But no, I'm sure the trickle down economics won't work like that. It never does.
