Anybody able to hit and pitch in the same game with Ohtani?

I posted this to the “Little Things” thread after seemingly not being able to start a thread, but reaching out to wider audience.

I cannot hit AND pitch with Ohtani in the same game. I am glad the issue of fatigue is resolved but it seems weird to me that one of most impactful aspects of Ohtani’s game is having him DH in his own start (and stay in according to the new “Ohtani rule”).

This is a somewhat unique circumstance to him obviously but he is the cover athlete… is there something I am missing?

If I select Ohtani as my starter, I cannot select him within the rotation. I can only select him to DH if he is not selected as the starting pitcher…

Yikes - seems like an oversight.

No, that logic doesn’t exist yet. I figure they would’ve added it this year being the cover boy and they mentioned it in the franchise stream but no there is no way to pitch and hit in the same game from what I’ve noticed.

I have not tried it but someone said on here you can if he’s in
The 2 slot in rotation

NOPE you can't I just tried. won't let you put him in the lineup when he pitches

I guess if you don't care about burning a bench spot there might be away to get around it.

I'm still on 21 but told the same work around exists. You lose the DH for the game though, so it's not the Ohtani rule.

You put a different pitcher in your lineup at DH and put them wherever you want Ohtani in the lineup (because when Ohtani subs in for them, they're out for the game, so you don't wanna burn a position player on the bench; I'd choose a starting pitcher). Then you swap positions with a position player; so now the pitcher is in the field and the position player is the DH. Start the game. As soon as Ohtani's pitching and you're in the field, you swap the DH back into his fielding position for the pitcher. The game tells you that you'll lose the DH and your pitcher will hit. You say ok. Now your position player is back where he was supposed to be and Ohtani is hitting where the pitcher was in the lineup, at least until you pull him from the game. So you're playing by NL rules pre-universal DH

The problem
With this I’d Ohtani is usually the lead off hitter so doesn’t quite work well for Away games, a starting pitcher would have To lead off the game before you get to fielding. I dont think
You can swap position when batting.

I’m guessing we can’t just choose Ohtani to
Pitch in the 2nd inning and start as a DH?

That's only to set him as a DH in the main lineups page
