5th year options

They are gone. They just added the feature a couple of years ago, me and my buddies are in an online franchise together in year 5 and the prompt to accept or decline it never pops up.

One of the many amazing new additions to franchise mode this year.

If we're lucky, that will be one of the 2 updates they give us for franchise next year...

Re: 5th year options

If I remember right, someone brought this up during the beta and were told that the scenario was bugged and they knew about it. This was back in late july/august I think. So, yeah there is no reason for it to not be fixed by now. I try to be optimistic with this game but there are always things like this that happen that just make me angry.

Hopefully with the planned additions to the scenarios they fix the bug. I'm not going to hold my breath, plus the fact that it only affects user teams and not CPU teams is just poor planning for the feature.

This sort of stuff worries me a lot. 5 year options and draft logic should be a reminder that any new additions aren't safe for the next iteration. Really quite concerning

Re: 5th year options

I may be missing something but I never liked how 5th year options worked and never utilized them. In my view, if there's a player I wanted to keep around I'd offer him a long term contract during the 4th year. The 5th year option would only delay that long term contract, and in doing so, would most likely give him another year to improve and make that long term contract even LARGER next season.

Same. It was frustrating how they wouldn't show you the player ratings or anything too. It's fine early on but when you get deeper into the league and there's a ton of generated player names on the roster it was impossible to know who was up for a 5th yr option

Re: 5th year options

I think more important that 5th year options are holdouts and contract renegotiations.

Yeah, I know that EA can say "the NFL won't allow it" when it comes to putting holdouts in the game so I won't spend time on it.

But contract renegotiations are very much part of the NFL as signing bonuses. There has to be a way (other than me developing in house rules in editing a player's contract) to institute renegotiations.
