Does Madden 22 Coach Mode compare to either of the NFL Head Coach games?

I've been playing Madden since I was a child, I'm only 23 now but that's 15 or so years of Madden experience. After high school football the glaring holes in Madden got even more evident, and other factors like a video game simply can't do what I want it to do the exact way I want it done (like leveraging passes to one on one match ups), which leads to BS INTs.

To save myself the headache, I got into NFL Head Coach.

I personally prefer the 06 version because it's and x's and o's HC RPG and not a strategy, but it's so old it's abandonware now. NFL Head Coach 09 is a GM players dream come true in every way, except the games take like an hour and a half to complete, the graphics suck, and the camera angles suck.

Finally caved, just bought Madden 22 PC. I'm gonna "coach mode" as an OC or offensive HC and slow sim the defense for some realism.

Now obviously we're talking about lunchables vs Gordon Ramsey steak here, but does Madden 22's franchise mode compare to HC06 or HC09 in the slightest? How often do coaches get fired? Is it challenging?

Last Madden I played other than Madden 08's FF/FI mod (go get that mod!) and Madden 19 PC. I immediately noticed that Madden doesn't respect the players bulk/strength leading to a complete disrespect to formations, but that issue is something that EA said they have specifically made improvements on.

NFL Head Coach 09 had a "Play Steal" feature.

CPU teams stole your successful plays in your playbook and added them to their playbooks. That feature met with college playbooks from incoming college coaches and user created plays birthed a new meta evolution for playcallers across the NFL.

I don't know for sure if this is still true, but I am under the strong impression that, among other deficiencies, while using Coach Mode in Madden NFL the user team's quarterback will never scramble.

Relative to NFL Head Coach 09, Madden NFL is absolutely not and has never been designed for extended play in coach mode. To get the most out of Madden NFL, you must assume control of the action on the field.

I'll leave it to others to detail the deficiencies of the CPU roster management abilities in Madden franchise mode; your mileage may vary with the draft logic or trade logic. My general experience is that the CPU teams re-sign marginal players too aggressively, which limits their ability to retain their best players.

Until contracts are represented correctly in Madden NFL with annual roster bonuses (as opposed to all bonus money being a lump-sum signing bonuses up front) and the CPU roster management AI is upgraded to account for that change, CPU teams in Madden NFL franchise are always going to have difficulty competing with a user capable of more aggressive roster management moves.

I only played the last one, HC '09 but to answer your question, absolutely not. Madden 22 Coach Mode is way behind NFL Head Coach. They may have "tried" to improve Franchise but they did not listen to the community. Coordinators and scouts are in the game but they really don't matter. They could have added simple things from HC like progressive injuries and playbooks that have to be learned but nope. Everything just feels generic and those choices don't really matter.

I also loved HC and the only slight comparison is play as an owner and watch cpu vs cpu so you set team and draft, set coaches play books and such. I actually really love watching the games like that games looks beautiful.
