NBA 2K22 - CoY Roster - CPU vs CPU (NBA 2K Manager)

Hello 2K Community ! for those who don't know me, I am a French guy, passionate of NBA and also a big fan of statistics and data.

Why ?
There are plenty of different custom rosters over the 2K community, but there is no roster specifically built for the CPU vs CPU mode, for a 2K Manager point of view.
But with all due respect to the different custom rosters, the CPU vs CPU is quite different from the User vs CPU experience and therefore it needs to be built differently in term of player artificial intelligence (tendencies).
Also because the limit of the 2K Physic engine is impacting a lot the CPU vs CPU gameplay.

What ?
Here comes the CoY Roster, built based on statistical analysis with Y-1 and YTD data, to last during multiple seasons over the MyNBA mode, to give you the deepest simulation of a NBA General Manager !
We have reworked everything, from players attributes, badges, play priorities, playbooks and so on to give you the best gameplay and simulation statistics ever.

How ?
- Artificial Intelligence : You will coach your team in-game on a CPU vs CPU mode where the AI has been reworked to the deepest level possible :

- The AI has been defined by position (guard, forward, center) and by player type (all around, two way, offensive, defensive, 3&D, athletic, outside scorers, inside scorers) with tendencies ranges to avoid hardcoded behavior and to optimze the CPU thinking process - Some specific players will have their specificities replicated into their tendencies (Harden with stepback 3 and massive use of sizeup, CP3, DeRozan with midrange jumpers, Embiid with post faceup and midrange jumpers, ...) - The AI has been designed so that after many years in MyNBA, despite team adjustement and players moving all accross the NBA, the in-game behavior won't be affected !

- Simple vs Complex playbooks : in reality there are only few teams that are running complex plays such as the Warriors, and most of the custom rosters contain too many slow plays that destroy the tempo. Therefore we have reworked the playbooks based on 2 types :

- simple playbook (90% of simple play, 10% of complex plays) with a lot of simple pick&roll, isolation, post-up with the appropriate spacing - complex playbook (50-50 between simple and complex, to cleverly switch the tempo of the game such as Warriors are doing) - The ratio between simple & complex plays in each playbook is important to keep a modern NBA high tempo with an average point per game above 110

- Bigs vs Small Ball : The 2K Physic is creating some issues in game, where bigs are overpowered, through speed & vertical jumping (see the video), and some badges are broken and creating unrealistic animations (chase down block, see the video)

- We have the confirmation from the 2K Tutes team that 2K Physic is broken, a 7"3 player with speed = 53 is as fast as a 6"0 with speed with/ball=95 - 2K Tutes and 2K Labs have also confirmed through their YouTube channels that some badges like "chase down block" and "pogo stick" are completely broken with the current 2K Physic engine, leading to unrealistic animations - Therefore there is a need to rework some physical attributes based on size, through a mathematical formula (speed, vertical) - This rework will balance the offensive strategies with a slight boost to small ball strategies and a nerf to bigs -

- Balanced offense : in 2K some strategies are better than others, whereas in reality, there are plenty of different ways to win a game (isolation, pick&roll, ball movement, transition, inside scoring, 3s, ...) :

- Real NBA games statistics : Your games will be the closest possible to a real NBA one, where all statistics have been treated to be as closed as possible to the reality :

- Deepest Draft Classes possible, based on a statistical model with a lot of steals possibilities during the draft !

- In order to keep the gameplay unchanged, rookies will be treated on a similar way as current players, with attributes and tendencies based on position and player types - Rookies will be unique and generated through a statistical model, to deviate slightly from the average. For the draft class, I took the 2022 prospects, regarding their abilities I allocate them an appropriate player type, I update their potential & attributes based on a normal distribution (avg=0 for top10, then avg -1 per batch of 10 players, standard deviation=2 for the attributes). These players have perfect tendencies to match with the roster.

I took care of intangibles to create some steals and to keep the top10 as it is foreseen.

If this process does not suit you, you can still create your own MyNBA scenario with the roster and your own draft class it's not a problem.

!!! Important !!! : each year spent in MyNBA we will have to correct some stuff manually in the roster :
- tendencies changes (like shot under)
- badges (we want to keep the same badges distribution, and so we want to remove the broken badges and keep the highest levels we defined for the OP ones like the "finishing badges" with silver level max)
