Question on editing rosters for 2k that has servers shut down

Just a quick question in case somebody knows (I could not find the answer to this question anywhere).

Are there issues with editing rosters for 2k versions that have servers shut down? I am asking this because in the past what would happen was that when the game could not check for player name validity (it could not reach the servers), it would change player names to random generated names for all the edited players and, thus, effectively destroy the roster.

I can test this I suppose but I don't want to mess up any rosters that way if this were still true. So, I am asking if anyone has had issues with this for example with 2k19? When they shut down servers for 2k20 this could again be an issue, so I would like to know if this happened to anyone with 2k19.
