Looks pretty solid to me. Not really human vs. CPU but game looks nice.

People expecting a massive change definitely will be disappointed but player faces look a lot better and the ice looks great.

I just saw an awesome animation where a guy slid on his knees to block and shot and his momentum had him spin around and he grimaced and gingerly got up. Really nice.

Nothing to do with the Gameplay but how many years will EA NHL continue to bring to us the same boring Goalie masks. I guess we have them more than ten years now. Goal celly the same, see no new cutscenes during the game.

Hopefully it can be added in a patch. If not that’s really disappointing. It seems like at least half of the goalies in the NHL have the True pads.

Don’t think that they patch it with an update. Usually they update some Jerseys and seldom Player or Goalie equipment what belongs to Franchise mode.

Re: NHL 22 Gameplay Video Arrives Tomorrow at 11:00 AM ET

I listened to the whole broadcast, pretty interesting conversation with the dev team. They said the competitive scene wants different things than the sim scene (obviously) and it meant they have had a challenge in balancing things like speed. They said on the sim setting, acceleration is slower so you have more differentiation between stars and scrubs and it feels slower, but in head-to-head on competitive players want control and to not leave things up to randomness (which sim players are fine with - it's hockey after all). Sim players are fine with a puck bouncing over a stick or dekes being really hard but online players want a deke to work if they input the controls properly, for example.

The stick physics they said finally got addressed because sim players wanted it and they could actually devote an engineer to make it work for all modes, for example.

I didn't care for the presentation in-game frankly and hopefully we can turn off a lot of the indicators and x-factor notifications like Madden. But overall the graphics look excellent and player faces look great. Movement is good. Even in a head-to-head setting you could see d-men being able to shut down lanes to the net with good positioning. AI is going to be something to watch but I've learned to live with some warts.

Really, really excited for release!

I just hope they add some tweaks to franchise mode beyond x-factors and the such. They have such a great franchise mode foundation and it's just building on it now. Make the coaching staff/hires more dynamic, add more information in franchise mode like box scores, and we have a fantastic game. Can't wait for the slider gurus to get into this game on next-gen and really make it shine.
