re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

While Battlefield has gotten worse and worse with each release since Bad Company 2 in my opinion, it is still a fun series to hop into and play some nights. The openness and chaos is not matched by about any other shooters out there these days. From the leaks I've read, if true, it seems they've learned from some of their mistakes they've made over the last few releases. I don't expect it to play like a Bad Company 3, but if it is more like 3 or 4 and less like 1 then I think that will be a good thing for the series. V was an interesting game. It had its moments, but Dice really just botched that game altogether leaving it no chance to truly shine. They constantly fell short of their plans for content, were changing the TTK and other core mechanics multiple times over and so on.

I don't think it is something that will ever be solved, especially moving to 64v64, but I do wish Battlefield could figure out how to make each squad work together more as a team. Any vet of the series knows how chaotic even the team play can be in the game. You can basically see every squad going out and doing their own thing and leaving big holes in the map, being too aggressive, etc.

I do wish they'd at least test a system similar to what Squad does with the Squad Leaders being able to all communicate with one another so that their could be more strategy in each match. This is one of the main reasons I play Squad more than Battlefield these days. Squad obviously has its roots in the Battlefield series, so I don't think it is out of the question that the average Battlefield fan could benefit from a system like that being in the game. Even if some people trolled or ignored the system I don't think it would hurt the game. Each match that the SL's actually communicated and worked together would outweigh the bad matches where there was no teamwork.

My body is ready, I accept being disappointed because I know the highs BF has reached in the past.

I'd be more excited with a BF3 remaster.

I don't think that will ever happen. That game was a "flop" relative to the expectations in this series.

I dont remember if it was BF 3 or 4 or maybe both, but we had a decent size group of guys from OS that would team up regularly and destroy other teams. Everyone worked together and played their roles. Good times....
