I don’t understand how to speed rush.

Can someone help me here please?

I am doing the skills trainer tutorial, I have mastered all the other pass rushing moves, but I cannot seem to make a “Speed Rush” move happen.

The others are easy. “Bull-rush” I flick right stick down, and for “Rip-move” I flick up.

The tutorial says to “roll right stick to the outside of the blocker and sack QB” for the “Speed Rush” move. OK, when I roll the right stick upon contact, I do a spin move and “fail” even if I sack the QB.

What am I doing wrong?

Think a speed rush is just holding the turbo button. Nothing with the right stick whenever I do it. I think it feels kinda awkward and it doesnt wok too often but that's how i get the pop up saying "speed rush" instead of like spin/swin/rip

Just hold the acceleration button. If your guys wins the dice toll, he’ll disengage and run passed the tackle.

Thanks for the tip. I got it to happen a couple times finally. Not sure I’m too thrilled about the new O-Line/D-Line mechanics.

I cannot for the life of me get it to happen consistently still. The other moves all work as they should and have intuitive mechanics. I’ll probably just stick with the others.

I just booted up the skills trainer again and when it teaches you about the speed rush move there is NO mention of RT on the screen anywhere. There are also graphics that tell you to hit “X” or “Square” for power or rush moves, which are no longer in the game at all. So I’ll sum this up to EA being terrible at making a skills training mode that, you know, actually teaches you stuff.

They also neglect to explain the existence of the spin move at all. I just discovered it by accident.

They also neglect to explain what the little green and white bars are above my head when I’m a DT or DE actually mean. I had to find a YouTube video to learn what that meant.

EA should get their money back from whoever designed this “skills trainer.”

Quick update...

I actually do kind of like the new system with the bars above my head, and how I need to change moves I’m attempting and how I have to swap match-ups and such. It makes it so you have to get DT’s and DE’s who have a wider range of skills, instead of getting a guy really good at one move and spamming that move all game. I see what EA is goin for.

But the speed rush move mechanic and “skills trainer” still leave a lot to be desired.

With the speed rush you angle the left stick away from the Tackle on the snap so that he can't get into your chest right away, then move the left stick down and hit turbo before you make contact with him.

I personally think that it works great as do all of the other moves in terms of being able to attempt the exact move I want to every time.

Aaaaaah, OK. You’re supposed to angle to the side of the guy you’re grappling with using LEFT stick (not RIGHT like skills trainer tells you) and THEN hit RT to hopefully break free and speed past.

Thank you, lol. That is getting it to happen to for me (even if I fail to break free I am at least seeing the words “speed rush” above my head 100% of the time now).
