Hockey - should I buy?

LOVE watching Hockey but very little understanding of the deep strategys - If I purchase this is there a manager mode that will help me out? Or will I flounder and not have a clue what I'm doing

For instance - are lines changed automatically? Will I need to play with sliders without knowing what I'm doing? Is it OK out of the "box"?

Re: Hockey - should I buy?

Having purchased it I gotta say this is the most realistic sports game out there. Bravo.

It's a good game, especially if someone can get it on sale.

Yea it was on sale and being a casual fan it’s actually teaching me some details. I e some board games which taught me a little. Such as how important faces offs are.

I need to find a book on hockey Analytics. .

Watch an NHL game and how they line up defensively for the faceoffs when they are in their own zone. Every advanced hockey team does this. I won't attempt to describe the roles of each defensive player on these faceoffs here, since it would require a long paragraph, but unfortunately the EA NHL game does not line up this way. So you won't see it unless you watch a real game. I am sure there are books out there to teach you hockey tactics, but the best way to learn is to just watch the NHL. It will take some time, but there is no better way than to watch the best players in the world.

Re: Hockey - should I buy?

Love the game and I’m no hockey expert either at least as far as on ice strategy. I just go out there and feel my way through. Nothing better than seeing a goal scoring or goal stopping opportunity and executing. Definitely am improving too. Try to play one game every night in a franchise I started from a fantasy style draft. Play as Vegas and rigged the draft so I’d get McDavid. Everything else was legit though. 29 games in and I’m 3 points out of first in the pacific. For $29 and since I don’t have an experts eye for hockey nuances - it’s a steal.

Re: Hockey - should I buy?

I gotta agree with CubsIn2003. I play franchise in Coach Mode and this is EXCELLENT using Cycloniac's sliders 12 min periods a game takes 1:15 about (not counting the time before and after obsessing over the FEW stats).

Totally worth $28. I did a fantasy draft also but know absolutely nothing about ANYBODY in the NHL LOL We have no real hockey team in Wisconsin - WEIRD!!
