I have used this defense with good success on 14 (I use my DC's playbook, his run/pass and aggressive/conservative ratings, as well as using his play calls). I recently took over Louisville with a DC who ran this and the LBs were weak, but the safeties were very strong. I ended up configuring this as a 4-1-6 because my backup FS was rated higher as an OLB than my best OLB. From a pass defense standpoint, it was my best defense I had on 14. I was giving up 200 -- 250 yard passing against Air Raid offenses and usually under 200 to other offenses.
My thinking is you want fast coverage OLBs. In my current season, I recruited a 5-star OLB who was a Run Stopper who ran a 4.68 and he started at OLB is was an Impact Player by the ACC Championship Game. Your MLB should be able to run well, but should be balanced or a fast run stopper. This configuration is better against the run than previous seasons, but isn't as good against the pass. Overall, I think the D is better than previous seasons.
The "strikes(?)" play is very effective (I think a DB blitz or something similar works well too). Essentially it is the defense where both SS blitz off the line or within 2 yards of the LOS.
The 4-2-5 was designed to stop Spurrier's Fun And Gun offense at Florida. A good TE can give you fits in the passing game as well as interior power runs. I seem to have more success with two run defenders at DT and two pass rushers (or balanced) at DE. You want coverage or fast balanced DBs.
