MLB 16 vs 20

I got 16 and I'm satisfied with it, I was just curious if it's worth it to buy 20. I just play franchise and some play now every now and then, but mainly franchise. Since 20 is on sale for a couple of weeks I figured I'd ask some details on a forum or two just for perspective sake. Is the hitting/pitching any better or worse? Are there any updates to franchise that make it worth the upgrade? All the info I've found are pretty standard "we added 1000 animations" type stuff, but I don't get sports titles every year so I'm not big on animation changes. Any feedback is appreciated.

20 is the best version if you ask me, and considering it's only $10 on sale, you basically can't go wrong.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell anyone else: go on Youtube, watch gameplay videos, read reviews written by people who know games, read the review here, and decide for yourself without asking people what they think. It's very hard, even for the most objective person, to hear one opinion and not side with it with respect to games. It's just a failed place to start analysing from. Unless you are genuinely doing a poll to gauge how people feel about the game without any intention of that influencing your decision. People who like it will tell you it's good, people who don't will tell you it's bad. And that information is pretty well useless unless you also ask them why. And furthermore, you need to know how they play. Every single NBA2K21 review I read this year was useless for one glaring reason, none of them spoke for more than two sentences about offline play.

I'll give you another useless opinion, perhaps the most useless.. mine.

I am someone who only plays offline single season mode. The Show 20 focuses on pretty much every other experience than that one. What 16 did perfectly well on the PS3, it doesn't improve on at all in 20. Again, MY opinion. And I'll find you dozens of people who say that I'm "wrong" just because they happen to disagree with me. The graphics are not worth upgrading to, unless skin texture and badly animated cut scenes from robotic audience members matters to you. Somehow, the commentary has actually gotten worse. I actually think 16 on PS3 is graphically more accomplished and well executed than 20 on PS4 because I think devs on the PS4 stopped trying for sports games years ago. No doubt other games have improved but 2016-2020 sports games look pretty well the same. 20 feels more scripted than any other The Show I've ever played and I've been buying them since 2006. I think it's just bad physics. Again.... MY opinion. And you will find people who think I'm nuts and swear they have the evidence to prove it. (You watch, it's coming, give it a couple of days and someone will come in here to tell me why I'm wrong ) Then you'll either believe them or me. But then you're just following what someone said. You're just collecting opinions, I know. Start asking whether people like something and why and how they play. It will greatly improve the quality of the info you collect.

Re: MLB 16 vs 20

yeah, if you enjoy video game baseball, you'll enjoy 20. besides, what else do you have to better spend $10 on.
btw, I'd go ahead and jump from 16 to 17, play a season of your franchise to carry-over there with the 17 schedule, and have 20 ready to go dirt cheap after you've played a season on 18 & 19 also too as well. that's the way I'd roll with it anyways

Re: MLB 16 vs 20

Gameplay alone ‘20 is worth the upgrade over ‘16 especially for $10

Franchise mode is the same for the most part but it does a few things better in ‘20 than ‘16, primarily the AI roster building

Re: MLB 16 vs 20

Gamplay is superior on 20 over 16.

Hitting, Fielding, base running, AI baserunning, fielding ratings really mattering, and in franchise there is a difference in AI roster management.

If you like running fantasy daft franchises.....the AI is vastly better on 20 when they draft their teams. I mean night and day.

The audio is vastly better as well.

For $10 you are getting the clear cut best version of this game.

Re: MLB 16 vs 20

I just made the jump from 17 to 20 and so far I haven't enjoyed 20 like 17. Where are the cut scenes and season info on 20? Does 20 show replays of homeruns or am I missing a setting? I might end up going back to 17, but I'm gonna play a month of my season on 20 and see how it goes.
