Could NBA 2k21's 'The City' Be A Preview of 2k's NFL Plans?

I was reading 2k's blog about NBA 2k21's The City: https://nba.2k.com/courtside-report/...rtside-report/

...and it is absolutely insane! While it is a "mode" within NBA 2k21 it appears deep enough to almost function as a standalone game. Therefore, I believe this MIGHT be what is on tap for one of 2k's NFL-licensed titles. Now, I could be wrong but of all the speculative possibilities we've discussed here, this would easily be one of the more probable.

That would be awesome if it were to be true but we will see. Regardless, I think for those who want a future NFL 2k simulation game, even if that's 5+ years from now, we need to support anything 2k football releases in the future. I'm pretty sure it's going to be arcade based but the only way the NFL will eventually reconsider who has control of their simulation license is if 2k football products perform well in sales.

I can't see them coming out the gates with something of this caliber. But, I can definitely see something akin to Park. Let people customize their own avatars, buy merchandise, haircuts, etc. and play some 7v7 two touch football

I can see this mode as the game. They can share a lot of the resources that made this mode with the football title. 2k can’t do simulation, so they are going to want to bring it with everything else. An NFL version of the City would definitely do that. This would be awesome

We are all just guessing. With the players license pretty sure they can do another APF if that’s what they wanted

APF agreements weren’t collectively negotiated. NFLPA license doesn’t include retired players. That would have to be negotiated separately.
