Submission issues

Rented this game from the local video store (Yes, my town still has one of those) to give this game another chance. Been messing with the ground and there’s 3 things about the submissions game I don’t like.

1. Guillotine choke is almost useless because everybody can do the von flue counter. There’s hardly enough time to actually fill up the choke bar before the prompt to counter comes up unless you’re absolutely perfect. This essentially makes the move completely unviable.

2. Why is the d’arce choke from bottom side control? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen anybody hit that from there, it would be incredibly difficult to pull off if you even could. This choke is pretty much always done from sprawl position, yet it’s not there for some odd reason.

3. Finally, I can’t even get close to completing a joint submission. Ai always easily escapes, maybe I’m missing something? Or is it just really hard?

Re: Submission issues

I can’t comment on your 1st two questions but I can on your 3rd. I just started a BJJ fighter and I’m 4 fights into my career. He has 4 star leg lock submissions but I cannot for the life of me sink a leg lock sub on the AI. I started going after choke submissions and they are much easier to sink in.... and my choke subs are at 2 stars.

1. The guillotine from full guard is useless. You have to worry about the counter. The startup animation is easy to read. Finally, if you are against a real person that knows what they are doing, every choke becomes almost useless.

3. You need to pull the triggers to about 50% and just rock them slightly to get the bar to move at will. You should never need to fully have one of the triggers down. Just need to practice the feeling. Since the servers are down, I was messing around fighting the legendary AI and could joint sub them anytime I wanted to end the fight.

Yeah, I don’t have much issue getting choke finishes against the ai, they’re actually almost easy. I have never gotten a joint one.

I already do that with the triggers, the ai is just really good at defending it I think. I’m all offline so I guess I just won’t get joint submissions lol.

Just practice gently pressing both triggers and slowly adding pressure. Sway the bar from all the way left to right and back as slowly as possible in practice mode. This will get you the feel for it and you will adjust and figure it out. Once you get it down you will easily sub the AI.

The AI, even on the highest difficulties, is terrible with choke subs. You'll never have to worry about getting submitted via choke in the game's current state. Just the stick around in a slow circle and the CPU will never catch up.

It's much better with joint subs, but once you get a feel for the mini-game you'll be able to sub the AI at will with joint subs as well. There's a reason why everyone recommends using a BJJ specialist in legendary career.
