What are YOU going to do about this problem?

As we know, we have no solid details on when the NHL will kick off the next season. As it stands at the moment, it looks like January is most likely.

Thats potentially three months after the release of NHL 21...which means, no roster updates that include rookies until that time.

So what are we supposed to do? Wait all that time to start our franchises?

What are you going to do? Manual roster edits?

I think we will get a roster update on Friday with rookies assigned to their proper teams, and free agents assigned to their new teams. As far as RFA’s still without contract, I think EA should just give them all one year deals in the meantime, and any UFA’s without a deal should just be moved to the free agent list. The problem with starting a franchise now even if you move the rookies manually to their current teams, they are listed as undrafted free agents, and when you lose up franchise it messes with their potentials. I would be absolutely shocked if we didn’t get a roster update by at least Friday.

Now as far as top international guys like Kaprizov, or college players who finally signed an entry level deal prior to the re-start; then yes we most likely will not see them until January or February at the absolute earliest

I'm going to take the first update they put out and create my player. Add my player to the Pens as their 3rd line center at 18 years old and go for some NHL records. Player lock as the centers and just have some fun. May even sim games until the 3rd period and play the entire 3rd and thats it.

I may have spoken to soon. A community manager on the EA forums said “they didn’t have enough time” to complete a roster update. And “doesn’t know when they will have one ready”. Typical EA. The can have an Alex Laferennier Rangers UT card ready for launch, but can’t even have him assigned to his proper team in the base roster. Go figure. Well so much for starting our franchises and BAP with this shotty and thrown together roster

I have actually found that, in the past, the release roster is one of the best of the year. Usually takes me a day or two to get everything sorted, but you don't lose those CHLers that disappear as soon as they play a game or two.

You'll never get the KHLers (Kaprizov, etc.), and USNP/NCAA prospect (Spencer Knight, etc.) that would be great to have in the game, but there are a few guys that do rating spreadsheets for prospects around here that can usually get your roster looking decent within that timeline.

Obviously, it's not ideal, but the roster update issue is, in my opinion, a legacy issue that won't be solved until they add roster sharing, which I've pretty much given up on.
