Great article. You mentioned about 95 percent of the issues I have with 2k. *I would add jump heights and speed, as something I hope they can address. Boban does not jump as high or as fast as a player like. Anthony Davis. *Every big is not explosive off his feet. Giving a player like Zach Randolph a *1 inch only jump animation package would be good. Jumping animation packages is needed for all players. The only game that ever addressed jumping heights was Techmo Super Basketball on the *Super Nintendo. You could actually elevate over players depending on your jumping height on that game.*

To me it is always disappointing when I read so many new features in offense and nothing in the defensive end of the floor... specially for a game that it is already so offensive focused in the current gen with guys like Giannis antecheatcodeumpo been so freaking and unrealistically imposible to stop...

Have not thought about jump heights as packages before, always thought more about speed for bigs more, but it's a fair point about that.

I totally agree that jump height animation packages need to be added, but should be under the hood & be scaled/triggered based on the vertical rating.

I do think this exists, now, but in a very limited capacity & is "over ridden" by two - man "canned animations."

They definitely have the console power to really address this issue, though.

They need to eventually add different running strides based on height & speed rating. Of course, that is probably a lot of engineering work, so I'll give them a few years into next - gen to implement that type of stuff.

I'm excited by a lot of the nuanced stuff, but defense definitely needs to also be upgraded & improved.

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Reaction - Heavy On Creativity, Light On Defense

I always thought it was curious how they switched the shot aiming system so quickly. I wonder if they always planned to use the speed of the shot flick to control the arc on next-gen and decided to introduce that concept to us on current gen. If so, I wonder why they even released shot aiming as they originally did if they were just going to change it so fast...

Either way, this is just a long way to say I hope they seriously consider going back to the original aiming system where the stick speed does not affect the aim window. It is needlessly complicated, especially when trying to shoot quickly before a contest. I haven't seen anybody say they like the new shot aiming more than the original which is telling. They should just go back to 12:00 and 6:00 being the aim points for shots and layups and just let the flick speed affect shot arc if they want to do that.

Definitely need more non steal turnovers like bad passes that go out of bounds.
