Was damage reduced?

I've noticed in several fights that it appears that damage has been modified. I find this a bit concerning in the following showcase of two heavyweight hard hitters.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZGEXCtREP4

At 3:29 Francis lands a flush overhand on Kimbo, this only takes half the head damage.

There are also multiple strikes landed that do not produce much damage. My concern here is that it will lead to a combo-based meta, I feel that an overhand from Francis Ngannou should almost always be impactful. I've noticed a disparity between the damage here and the damage in the clinch/ground.

Apparently rocks will be rarer. Which is good. I just think rocks should be more devastating too.

I couldnt disagree more and I think this takes us much further away from realistic and competitive stand up.

If the rocks have more variance then I don’t think people would complain about them as much.

What do you disagree with? Less rocks or more devastating rocks?

100% disagree with the former

I think more devastating rocks would be part of a system that included more variance. More animations to separate them.

That's surprising. You're okay with numerous rocks every fight?

If people suck at defending themselves? Yes

Fighters get hurt in fights all the time. The problem is in UFC3 all the rocks created the wobbly legs effect.

Yeah but every fight can be like Edgar v Maynard. Getting hurt is fine, but it happens too much in UFC 3.

It should be more fighter uniqueness thing, fighters with high recovery should still be able to survive a lot of rocks but everyone else comebacks are rarer.
