My Brother and I spent hours creating teams with star players and renaming them just so we could add them to a league. We had to make sure that their batting stances were similar or that they threw pitches like the really did. We also had to come up with some amazing ways to abbreviate names because of the lack of room. My favorite was Candy Maldonado who basically became MLDNDO.

Then you would forget one night to turn of the game properly and it would erase everything so you had to start again from scratch. Thanks goodness for the cheat codes.

Hard to argue with your list although I might swap RBI 3 with Baseball Simulator 1.000, loved that game. I believe it was one of the first sports games with a battery backup. Anyone else old enough to remember passwords to save games ?

This username mixed with this grammatical error is a lot to take in all at once, and I'm here for all of it.

Re: Top 5 NES Sports Games That Still Hold Up Today

I really like your list. Thought I would post mine.

1. Super Spike V-Ball -- I still play this almost daily via emulators
2. Baseball Stars -- Once you had customer teams completed it was a blast. Although beating the American Dreams was very fulfilling.
3. Tecmo Super Bowl -- You pretty much said it all.
4. Mike Tyson's Punchout -- I don't have it quite as high but still a great game
5. Ice Hockey -- Super Blood League Hockey took a great game and upped the anti.

I never did get into Mario Golf. I switched to the Sega Genesis and PGA Tour Golf was really all I remember about younger golf games.

You guys must’ve never played Kings of The Beach starring Sinjin Smith and Randy Stokolos.*
