So I had an idea for a real Madden simulation style league and I'm wondering how many users would be interested. I love Madden but it's frustrating to play a full season and get to the playoffs, only to be blown out by a team with a sub-par roster whose user is just better at the game.
In this league, you would not actually control any players or even call plays. You would be the head coach and general manager of your team but instead of playing the game against an opponent, your opponent would be set to auto-pilot for that week and you would use super-sim to watch and stream the game for your opponent to see. Home team streams, away team on auto-pilot, or visa versa.
Using the sliders provided by cdcool, we think we could have it set at 15 minute quarters and still have realistic gameplay and stats. The games would take over an hour to complete but since only one player actually has to be online to super-sim each game, it might actually end up moving faster than leagues where you and your opponent have to find a time that works for both of you.
You would start by selecting an offensive and defensive scheme and playbooks. To ensure each coach is unique, we'll ask that you choose playbooks from different teams. So you could have the New England's offense or defense, but not both. We would also have a rule where the combination of playbooks you pick cannot be copied by another coach. If somebody uses NE/DET as their offense/defense, you could use NE/HOU (which is similar) but your coach can't be exactly the same.
Once you have picked your schemes, you would focus on signing and drafting players to fit your team. You can trade draft picks to acquire new players for a playoff push or trade veterans for cap space and draft picks if you're not where you wanted to be by the trade deadline.
By using super-sim, we would ensure the only things that matter are the decisions you make as a coach/GM.
